Review by Mocha Minis

Recently, we asked Mocha Minis to review our new range of miniatures and she kindly accepted. Mocha painted our model, Havan beautifully and wrote an insightful honest review of the miniatures which you can read on her blog; Mochaminis.com.

"This miniature has lots of great metal detail sculpted in-- buckles, thin armor edging, and studs that were fun to paint and practice the gold NMM (Non Metallic Metal) technique." - Mocha

Mountain of Metal Miniatures - A closer look

We are pleased to announce that we have finally released our own range of miniatures in our online store now, here.

Originally the miniatures were conceptualized and cast back in 2007 by Adam Cooper (Mountain of Metal), Stefan Ashwell and Ross Knill-Macarthur under their company Mini Painters.  However, university and life took over and the miniatures sat in Stefan's garage until 2015 when Adam and his wife, Joanne decided to re-release the models under Mountain of Metal.

Our minis are true 28mm scale models cast in white metal. So far we have three models in the range Havan, Nenqua and Volac;which were sculpted by the talented Gael Goumon,
but we are hoping to expand the range from 2016.

Volac

"Desperate to cling onto life, Volac swore pacts with ancients beings of unspeakable evil. Once a proud wizard dedicated to healing and caring for the weak, his fear of death drive him mad. Shunning others, Volac hides away in dark places practicing his arts; Necromancy and other vile magic in a vein attempt to banish death."

Havan the half seen

"Known across the civilized world as a mythical hero that comes in the dead of night to aid those in need. Havan earned the name 'half seen' through his eery ability to move unseen or appear from the shadows unannounced. To those that have witnessed his war craft, his reputation is well deserved. Armed with an ornate long sword and savage hand axe, Havan is more than able to deal with any who oppose him."

Nenqua

A beautiful yet deadly seductress, Nenqua would be perfect to use as a rogue or thief in your role playing games such as Frost Grave, Dungeon Saga and Mordheim.

New Website and Paint set Giveaway.

Hi everyone! Joanne from Mountain of Metal Painting Studio here. In our long absence both myself and Adam have been working hard editing our website and starting to setup our own online store.

We will be stocking mostly The Army Painter paints and hobby supplies but if we get a high enough demand we will start to stock other lines as well.

We've been very lucky and have managed to finish some brilliant commission projects with many more lined up. Adam has also managed to sneak in some of this own personal work; Necromunda gang and Malifaux Hoffman crew.

Necromunda - Gang Leader

Salute 2015 - Japanese Boards

We came across some fantastic looking games whilst at Salute. One of the games was Daishō – Skirmish Wargaming by Craig Cartmell and Charles Murton, authors of In Her Majesty's Service.

The other game; Defense of the Keep by Oshiro Model Terrain was a much larger table but looked amazing! The terrain and models looked fantastic.

Salute 2015 - Cold War Gone Hot (Wargames Illustrated)

One of our close friends, Nick Ayres has just released his new rule set at Salute 2015. Nick's rules are being used in the participation game on one of the Wargames Illustrated stands (GD04). The game is described below (taken from the Salute Website).

"Cold War Gone Hot - It’s the 1980’s and the Cold War has turned into World War Three! Take charge of a unit of Warsaw Pact or NATO troops as the battle for one of the main autobahns into West Germany becomes a chance to turn the tide…Participation Game, drop in and out as you like. 20mm figures, vehicles and more from the Leicester Phat Cats Wargames Club."

The board was created by both Nick Ayres and Philip Lewis and it looks amazing. If you are visiting Salute 2015, please check out their work.

For now, here are some photos of the game.
